Since the drive is recognized on the desktop and runs without a problem, the problem should be somewhere in your laptop. ![]() Because it was recognized on the desk top, WD Tech Support said "there is nothing wrong with the device, the problem is in your computer" (3) I did call WD Tech Support and they had me plug the hard drive into the desk top. ![]() How do I get my lap top to recognize this WD external hard drive? Notes: (1) I'm using the WD-supplied cable with blue color coded connector, (2) other external devices such as flash drives and an HP SimpleSave hard driveĪre recognized by the lap top. I plugged the WD external hard drive into my desktop, also running ![]() WESTERN DIGITAL "My Passport Ultra" external hard drive is not recognized by Windows 7 at any of the 3 USB ports on my 64 bit HP laptop (model: G71-343US).
